Part 78: If You Think He's Cheap, Then You're Bad.

Overview: FlamMan/FlameMan/FlamerMan/SillyLocalizationMan can very well be one of the few bosses who gives you trouble in your S-ranking venture. With healing, invincibility and the ability to cover your entire area in flames, he can be a source of minor frustration. You'll start to do well, but then you'll get hit by a random flame, or have your attacks completely stop to his green candle, and there goes your S-rank. Run around for another 10 minutes to retry. It's for this reason that keeping the candles down is your #1 priority.

Candle Rotation and Field.

[_][A][_]//[_][_][C1]
[_][_][A]//[_][_][A]
[A][_][_]//[A][_][C2]

C1 = Candle 1
C2 = Candle 2
A = Ice Panels

Candle 1 Rotation:

Green>Yellow>Green>Yellow>Red>Green

Candle 2 Rotation:

Green>Green>Red>Green>Red>Yellow

Be mindful that other versions of FlameMan have different candle rotations. Your main goal here is to get to the red color as soon as possible, or constantly apply pressure to the candles. By sticking to the red color, you can ensure that the difficulty of the fight goes down considerably because the measly 3 HP/second is no match for the damage you can output.

The Ice Panels on the field are what I call "sweet spots" and you should be using your Electric Chips on those panels.

Top Tier

: Obvious.

: If you're using PanelOut, and you have an AquaStyle, then go right ahead and throw this in.

:Keeps the candles down, creates holes to block FlamMan's attacks and deals acceptable damage. What else could you want?

: SCOOOOOOOOPS! SCOOPS HAAGEN DAZ

: Utterly and completely shuts him down.

: With the sweet spots on the field, coupled with FlamMan never moving into his back column, you can very easily rack up damage with these. ELECTRIFYYYY

: Very efficiently keeps his candles down.

: Same as Boomer.

Average-High Tier

: 300 damage? It's great, but you'll want to be safe from the candles first.

: Throw these on any candle and boom. Watch everything clear.

: Efficient! One of these drops the candles. Plus, it comes in * code.

: FlamMan always attacks two squares away, so chips with a set range of attack work well here.

: Same reason as Yoyo.

: Following the tiers and putting in PanelOut? Why not add this to your folder as well?

: Stand in middle, block fire, repeat. Not particularly amazing, but it can save you in a tight spot should the yellow candle be up.

: Not a terrible pick if you need to kill the candles.

Suck Tier

: Individually, these chips don't scale well. Using the Program Advance? Go right ahead.

: Please tell me how this was an effective use of your time.

: Actually less effective than SingleBomb just because you sit there throwing the thing for too long.

: Honestly? If you need some kind of folder filler, then fine. But these chips are utter trash.

: Just filler, really. Can't clear candles reliably because of how slow it moves.

EA "Evil Arts" Fanboy Tier

: With the yellow and green candle to contend with, it's very likely you won't get these off in time. You'll have to set both candles to red to reliably use these. I don't think I need to explain that it's necessary to deal good damage and keep the candles down at the same time.

: Oh yeah, do that. That won't backfire or anything. FlamMan's red candles will outheal the poison damage and even then, the mask won't protect you from the basic attacks. There could not have been a worse option. Hell, even is a better option just because you can knock out a candle.

: You can't afford to be wasting field space against this Navi. And unfortunately, NoBeam requires an obstacle, or frame-perfect use of his yellow candle monsters. Don't bother.

: This is a worse version of Sensor, why is this in your folder?

: DO NOT USE. When you put down a GrassStage, the candles will automatically burn the square they rest on, preventing this chip from being really effective.

---------------------------------

I always ran around the heater when I first played this game. I thought it would help me run into FlamMan faster.

Geyser W can be easily farmed in Undernet 1. Cannonball * can be farmed in Secret Area 2, and they mainly help for the first chip. IceWave3 is simply filler, with ZapRings providing an option for fast projectile usage on the candles. This was used to get the V3 chip.

S code! Lance provides an easy candle clear, as do the Boomer chips. Condors are essentially "Add" fodder. Metagels and BubbleMan chips are obviously going to stay a staple. Used to get the V4 chip.

The rest of this folder is the same as the V4 one. This mainly shows how good PanelOut is against FlamMan. Used for the V2 chip.

Messing with the AIs tends to crack me up.
